In a litter of pigs one is often born a few ounces lighter than his litter mates. If it is a large litter and there is uncontrolled competition for nursing time, in 10 weeks the runt will be 2 to 4 pounds lighter.
If trough fed where there is uncontrolled competition for feed, in 6 months the runt will be 50 pounds lighter. In feeding programs where the runt pig his equal access to nursing time and trough time he will do as well as, or better than, his litter mates.
That's why capitalism should be regulated.
